Come see why Jujitsu becoming most popular form of martial arts
Wikipedia defines Jujitsu as “a Japanese martial art and a method of close combat for defeating an armed and armoured opponent in which one uses no weapon or only a short weapon.” At Elite Taekwondo, we define Jujitsu a fun and healthy way to get fit, improve self-defence and competition skills, and gain discipline and confidence.
Jiu Jitsu’s increasing popularity is due to the fact that it can be an effective method for dealing with bigger and stronger opponents. Students not only learn self-defence techniques but many go on to compete in mixed martial arts competitions. Add in the fact that it an excellent fitness tool and can be worked into almost any training regimen and it’s easy to see why Jiu Jitsu has become so well-liked.
Elite’s award winning Sensei Rodrigo Resende and his hand-picked martial arts instructors work with students – both new and seasoned – to develop different areas of personal growth including Jujitsu technique and fitness. Sensei Rodrigo, who has competed in national and international martial arts competitions, incorporates an integration philosophy into his classes whereby rookie students mix with veteran students. This method benefits both groups because the more experienced students get to share their techniques and skills with newer students and, in turn, gain from teaching. Sensei chooses his qualified instructors based on their skill, technical knowledge, personal integrity, and patience.
With our focus on grappling and ground fighting, students learn proper technique and control and learn how to get leverage and establish dominance on the ground. Instructors teach students how to get into the best position to use submission holds. Because our curriculum is rotated, students soon master all aspects of grappling, including throws, take-downs, and submissions.
